Some of Our 2015 Reviews
Stayed here with my parents and my wife and 18 month old son. My dad has MS and is wheelchair bound. Paul has built and runs one of the best places a disabled person (and abled bodied people) could stay.
Everything is thought of in terms of toileting, showering and other things a disabled person would struggle with at any other B&B.
More importantly Paul has a real passion and drive to give the best care possible to any guest with a disability.
I am GP by trade and have been in some places which are meant to be disabled friendly and I can honestly say this is the best one I have come across so far.
Highly recommended. 5 Star
As a family we had our best holiday ever. Paul takes great pride in providing a clean and friendly B&B, with stunning views and a 5 star breakfast. Excellent location and accomadation for people with and without a disability. Hope to get back again very soon.
My partner and I stayed at the Strangford Bay Lodge as we were attending a wedding. The owner, Paul was so welcoming and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We were only staying for a short period of time but we would definitely return for a longer stay. Paul specialises in catering for disabled individuals including groups and couples and has excellent equipment to do so. It should be noted that the location is not only for disabled individuals and is a great spot for a quiet getaway. Prime location, excellent breakfast, very clean and such a great atmosphere. Thanks again Paul!
We were twelve adults and three children attending a wedding in the vicinity. The rooms were spacious, warm and all ensuite. Paul put a cot into the room and our granddaughter loved all the toys and Paul's pet rabbit. Paul was delightful, kind and exceedingly helpful. He cooked our breakfasts beautifully, as and when we needed them. The views over the lawn to the water are stunning and most of the rooms had that view. We loved the welcome, the comfort and Paul's ability to be flexible and accommodate our needs.
Excellent location and facilities for people with or without disabilities. Very clean and has lots to keep you entertained. I was very impressed by the facilities and host Paul. Local pub not too far away and a great weekend was had by all xxx
I recommend Strangford Bay Lodge to any families or groups with people with disabilities. The facilities are excellent and the location is great with pub and restaurant nearby. I really enjoyed my stay.
Just back from a brilliant few days away at Strangford bay lodge b&b. The host Paul could not do enough to make sure that we had what we needed and got settled in. Disability friendly house which is huge inside overlooking the bay. Paul had loads of advice and local knowledge for days out and dining in or out.
I was looking for somewhere to bring my family and brother who has motor neuron disease. After unsuccessfully trying to find somewhere that catered for his needs I contacted the Motor Neuron Association and they recommended Strangford Bay Lodge. From initial contact to the end of our stay, Paul the owner couldn't have been more helpful. We wanted our entire family which consisted of 14 adults and 12 children of various ages to have a great holiday and spend time with my brother. Everything my brother needed was there and not only that the accommodation has a lot of toys, games including x box and WII to keep the children amused. The accommodation was massive and we had a fabulous time and we will return as soon as possible!! D.McDaid
Awesome experiences every time we stay manager is so in tune with guests needs. Affordable pricing beautiful grounds and local activities to entertain those active and into the outdoors. Wonderful for groups or couples all rooms are so clean and well worth the price to wake up over looking the lough.
As a private carer for a person with a disability I found it such a pleasure to stay at this guest house. As the person I care for is in a wheelchair, I found the bedrooms were designed perfectly from the ease of access to the bed, wetroom and even the dressing table was at the right height for the wheelchair. All areas of this property are also easily accessible with a wheelchair. I have stayed here numerous times throughout the cooler months but am really looking forward to staying here in the good weather when we will be able to open our outer bedroom door directly on to the patio, overlooking stunning Strangford Lough. The host/owner could not have been more helpful in welcoming us on each occasion and cooking us the most sumptious cooked breakfasts. I couldn't recommend Strangford Bay Lodge more highly. Also just about 1 mile away is a lovely little pub/restaurant the Saltwater Brig which serves excellent food at very reasonable prices.
